چکیده

The ensemble density functional theory is valuable for simulations of metallic systems due to the absence of a gap in the spectrum of the Hamiltonian matrices. Although the widely used self-consistent field iteration method can be extended to solve the minimization of the total energy functional with respect to orthogonality constraints, there is no theoretical guarantee on the convergence of these algorithms. In this paper, we consider an equivalent model with a single variable and a single spherical constraint by eliminating the dependence on the fractional occupancies. A proximal gradient method is developed by keeping the entropy term but linearizing all other terms in the total energy functional. Convergence to the stationary point is established. Numerical results in the KSSOLV toolbox under the Matlab environment show that they can outperform SCF consistently on many metallic systems.

بررسی خواص ساختاری و الکترونی بلورCaS

The electronic and structural properties of CaS are calculated using full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method within the local density approximation (LDA) and generalized gradient approximation (GGA) for the exchange-correlation energy. For both structures, NaCl structure (B1) and CsCl structure (B2), the obtained values for lattice parameters, Bulk modulus and its pres...

First-Principles Investigation of Density of States and Electron Density in Wurtzite In0.5Ga0.5 N Alloys with GGA-PBEsol Method

In present work, we have calculated the electronic properties including density of states and electron density for GaN, InN and InxGa1-xN  in wurtzite phase for x=0.5. The study is based on density functional theory with full potential linearized augmented plane wave method by generalized gradient approximation for calculating electronic properties. In this report we concluded that InxGa1-xN ba...

00 4 Langevin Dynamics in Constant Pressure Extended Systems

The advantages of performing Langevin Dynamics in extended systems are discussed. A simple Langevin Dynamics scheme for producing the canonical ensemble is reviewed, and is then extended to the Hoover ensemble. We show that the resulting equations of motion generate the isobaricisothermal ensemble. The Parrinello-Rahman ensemble is then discussed and we show that despite the presence of intrins...
